Is Temecula a Cheap Place to Live?

Temecula is a great place to live if you're looking for an affordable home in Southern California. Home to five of the fastest-growing companies in the United States, Temecula has a thriving economy and is surrounded by Santiago Road (north), Jeramie Dr (northeast), Temecula Pkwy (southwest) and Interstate 15 (west). The city offers country living with open spaces and is home to many wineries, golf courses, and casinos. Temecula's important industries include educational services, health and social care, arts, entertainment and recreation, lodging and food services, retail, and manufacturing.

There are dozens of fantastic restaurants in Temecula that offer California cuisine and flavors from around the world. Despite its status as part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, Temecula is much closer to San Diego, just 58 miles to the south. Interstate 15 (north-south) crosses the western side of Temecula and offers trips to Corona and connects to Los Angeles and other cities in the northwest. These include the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) bus service, Menifee Taxi Company, West Coast Transportation and Temecula VIP Shuttles.

The neighborhood is nearly 14 miles east of downtown Temecula and borders De Portola Road to the east. Although Sonoma and Napa Valley take much of the credit, Southern California has an exquisite wine region, and the Temecula Valley is right in the center. As is the case in most parts of Southern California, Temecula does not experience significant seasonal variations. Residents can visit sandy beaches, enjoy great surfing, and experience San Diego's burgeoning cultural scene in about an hour's drive away.

While Temecula is closer to San Diego than Los Angeles and there tends to be less traffic along the way, commuting becomes expensive if you work there. According to BestPlaces's cost of living index for Temecula, it has a cost-of-living index of 142.6.
